GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland's Terrapins swept this week's conference basketball honors as D.J. Stawberry was tabbed as the ACC Player of the Week and Greivis Vasquez was selected as the ACC Rookie of the Week.
In earning the ACC Player of the Week award for the second time in his career, Strawberry averaged 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and shot 56 percent from the field (16-of-27) as the Terps posted key ACC road wins over NC State and Clemson. The Corona, Calif., native opened the week with an 18-point, nine-rebound, two-blocked shot performance in Wednesday's 85-70 victory over the Wolfpack. Three days later, the senior guard tallied a game-high 22 points in an 82-66 win over the Tigers.
Vasquez averaged 15.0 points, 8.5 assists and 4.5 steals while shooting 55 (11-of-20) from the field last week in victories over NC State and Clemson. The Caracas, Venezuela freshman scored 15 points, dished out six assists, and recorded four steals in 37 minutes against the Wolfpack. In Saturday's victory over the Tigers, Vasquez tallied 15 points, a season-high 11 assists and five steals.
