Men's Basketball ACCtion: Monday, December 31
Dec. 31, 2012
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Freshman Joe Rahon hit all six of his 3-point attempts and scored a career-high 24 points to lead Boston College past Dartmouth, 79-58, on Monday afternoon in Conte Forum.
Rahon's 24 points are the most by an ACC freshman in a game this season. He was nearly perfect from the field, going 7-for-8 from the floor, 6-for-6 from beyond the arc and 4-for-4 from the foul line. He also had five assists and three rebounds.
BC's other four starters also scored in double digits. Freshman Olivier Hanlan recorded 15 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Ryan Anderson had 12 points, seven boards and four assists while classmate Lonnie Jackson scored 12 points. Sophomore Patrick Heckmann added 10 points.
No team makes shots more frequently than North Carolina State, and that's largely because of the 23rd-ranked Wolfpack's quality depth.
C.J. Leslie led five players in double figures with 21 points in N.C. State's 89-68 win over UNC Greensboro on Monday.
Scott Wood and Lorenzo Brown added 15 points apiece, and the Wolfpack (11-2) largely kept the Spartans off the boards after halftime while using a timely run to break open a surprisingly tight game. N.C. State outrebounded them 24-16 in the second half.
Richard Howell had 11 points and 13 rebounds, and T.J. Warren finished with 13 points for the nation's most accurate shooting team, which shot 53 percent in winning its seventh straight, matching its longest winning streak since 2008.
