COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - Landon Milbourne and Dave Neal each scored 14 points, and Maryland avenged an embarrassing loss to American University with a 67-51 victory Monday night.
Greivis Vasquez scored 13 for the Terrapins (8-2), who have won four straight since successive losses last month against Top 25 foes Gonzaga and Georgetown.
Last year, the Eagles stunned Maryland on its home floor 67-59. Determined to avoid anything resembling a repeat performance, Maryland bolted to a 9-0 lead and never let the margin shrink below six points.
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP)--Al-Farouq Aminu had 21 points and 12 rebounds, and No. 6 Wake Forest blew open a close game after halftime to beat East Carolina 95-54 on Monday night.
Chas McFarland had 14 points for the Demon Deacons (11-0), who are off to their best start since winning the first 11 games of 2003-04. Wake Forest led by four points at halftime before roaring out of the break with a big run that silenced the rowdy home crowd dreaming of an upset.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Dwight Lewis scored 19 points as Southern California pulled away from Georgia Tech at the start of the second half to win 76-57 Monday night.
Freshman DeMar DeRozan had 17 points while Taj Gibson and Daniel Hackett each added 15 as the Trojans (8-3) improved to 8-0 at home for the first time since the 2001-02 season.
Lewis Clinch scored 25 points for the Yellow Jackets (8-2), who shot 35 percent.
RALEIGH, N.C. - Marquette's Dominic James hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key with 0.4 seconds remaining on the clock to give the No. 23 Golden Eagles a 68-65 victory over NC State Monday night at the RBC Center.
NC State senior Ben McCauley answered with a shot from the top of the key after a three-quarters-court inbounds pass, but officials determined after watching a television replay that the shot went in after the buzzer went off.
