Big games from Hudson and Allen lift Tech over VMI

BLACKSBURG -- Dorenzo Hudson scored 19 of his career-high 24 points, Jeff Allen added 24 points and Virginia Tech tied a school record with 15 blocked shots, as the Hokies downed VMI 98-73 in a non-conference game at Cassell Coliseum on Wednesday night.

The win was the Hokies' fourth straight, as they moved to 7-1 overall on the season VMI fell to 4-4.

Tech, which led by seven at halftime, opened the second half with a 10-0 run that ended up becoming a 17-6 run. Allen - who came off the bench for the third straight game - scored eight during that run for the Hokies and scored 18 of his 24 in the second half.

Eagles Fall to Crimson, 74-67

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Joe Trapani scored 21 points and classmate Corey Raji tallied 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead Boston College in a 74-67 loss to Harvard before 4,136 fans in Conte Forum.

Sophomore Reggie Jackson (13 points) and junior Biko Paris (11 points) rounded out BC's list of double-figure scorers. Harvard (7-2) was led by senior Jeremy Lin, who totaled a game-high 25 points.

The visiting Crimson led by as many as seven points (11-4) in the early going and maintained a five-point edge before BC ran off 14 straight points to gain a 24-15 lead with 5:24 to play in the first half.
