STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Freshman Olivier Hanlan scored 22 points and Boston College withstood a furious late-game rally to beat Penn State 73-61 on Wednesday night in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
The Eagles led by 20 with 6:21 left before an 18-1 run got Penn State within 60-57 with 3:05 left, led by Jermaine Marshall (25 points) and D.J. Newbill (22).
Hanlan's three-point play on a jumper in the lane ended the spurt, and Andrew Van Nest's open layup gave Boston College a 65-59 lead with 1:52 left.
CLEMSON, S.C. - Purdue shot 57 percent in the first half and guard D.J. Byrd posted 20 of his 22 points in the first half as the Boilermakers outlasted Clemson in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, 73-61. Purdue led by 20 at halftime and by as much as 23 in the second frame, the Tigers' largest deficit of the young season. Clemson fell to 4-2 with the loss, while Purdue moved to 3-3 overall with the win.
Clemson was led by Devin Booker, who totaled 18 points and eight rebounds in an outstanding 36 minutes of action. Booker made it to the gym just after 6:00 after missing the last two days to be with an ailing family member. K.J. McDaniels added 15 points, six rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals.

DURHAM, N.C. - Mason Plumlee had 21 points and a career-high-tying 17 rebounds, and No. 2 Duke rallied late and held on to beat No. 4 Ohio State 73-68 on Wednesday night.
Rasheed Sulaimon scored 17 points and Ryan Kelly added 15 and hit 3-pointers on consecutive trips downcourt early during the 20-7 run that put the Blue Devils ahead to stay and sent them to their third win over a top-five team this month.
Deshaun Thomas scored 16 points for Ohio State, while Aaron Craft and Lenzelle Smith Jr. had 11 apiece.
Shannon Scott pulled the Buckeyes within 66-64 with a free throw with 28.9 seconds left before Quinn Cook sealed it by hitting six free throws in the final 27.3 seconds.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - Joseph Bertrand made 3-pointers on consecutive possessions and scored every point in a 10-0 run to ignite No. 22 Illinois to a 75-62 victory over Georgia Tech on Wednesday night in an ACC-Big Ten Challenge game.
Illinois took charge behind Bertrand, who also scored on a drives in the decisive surge to lift the Illini from a 58-54 deficit late in the second half.
The Illini finished the game on a 21-4 run.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) - Senior Trey McKinney Jones scored a career-high 18 points and the Miami Hurricanes held No. 13 Michigan State without a field goal for a pivotal 51/2-minute stretch in the second half in a 67-59 victory Wednesday night.
McKinney Jones went 5-for-7 from 3-point range, including a basket that capped a 14-2 run to start the second half that put them ahead 41-33.
The lead grew to 57-45, and they went 8-for-8 from the free throw line over the final 2:11 to seal the victory.
