BC Men's Basketball Tops UAB, 83-77

NEW YORK (AP) - Tyrese Rice scored all 24 of his points in the second half, and Boston College rallied to beat UAB 83-77 Friday in the consolation game of the NIT Season Tip-Off.

Rakim Sanders added 16 points, Joe Trapani had 12 and Reggie Jackson 11 for the Eagles (4-2), who trailed 70-66 with about 6 minutes left before Rice hit a 3-pointer that ignited an 11-2 run.

Tigers Cruise to Victory. 79-58

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Trevor Booker scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead undefeated Clemson to a 79-58 victory over Presbyterian on Friday night.

Terrence Oglesby contributed 12 points, Jerai Grant had 11 and Raymond Sykes added 10 for the Tigers (7-0).

Thomas Explodes Off The Bench In Rout Of Duquesne

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski always seems to have a group of reserves who could start for most other teams. Lance Thomas became the latest member of that club to post some impressive numbers.

Thomas scored a career-high 21 points Friday to help the seventh-ranked Blue Devils rout Duquesne 95-72.

Georgia Tech Hangs On To Beat Jacksonville 79-76

ATLANTA (AP) -- Alade Aminu scored 19 points and Gani Lawal had 15 points with 12 rebounds to help Georgia Tech hold off Jacksonville's late charge in a 79-76 victory on Friday night.

Ben Smith's 30 points led Jacksonville, which went on a 33-13 run to trail 77-74 with 40.8 seconds remaining, but his effort wasn't enough to keep the Dolphins (0-5) from avoiding their worst start since 1996-97.

Wake Forest Pulls Ahead Of UTEP, 82-79

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Jeff Teague capped a 29-point performance by making two free throws with 14 seconds remaining, leading No. 19 Wake Forest to an 82-79 victory over Texas-El Paso in the 76 Classic on Friday.

James Johnson added 18 points and Al-Farouq Aminu scored 15 for the Demon Deacons (5-0), who advanced to Sunday's championship of the eight-team tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center.

No. 9 Gonzaga Goes Inside to Beat Maryland, 81-59

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) - Greivis Vasquez hit the 1,000-point plateau in his career by scoring 16 points, but Josh Heytvelt had 22 points and No. 9 Gonzaga beat Maryland 81-59 on Friday in the semifinals of the Old Spice Classic.

Gonzaga (4-0) opened an 18-point lead midway through the second half on the play of subs Robert Sacre and Steven Gray and pulled away for the win.

Cavaliers Fall 73-70 at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) -Jonny Flynn and Andy Rautins each scored 15 points, Rick Jackson came off the bench to key a late rally, and Syracuse beat Virginia 73-70 on Friday night.

Syracuse (6-0), fresh from winning the CBE Classic championship in Kansas City by beating No. 17 Florida and No. 22 Kansas on consecutive nights, overcame a 13-point deficit for the second straight game.
