BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Deron Washington had 16 points and Coleman Collins had 14 points and 14 rebounds to lead Virginia Tech to a 77-49 win over Morgan State Friday night.

Collins scored 10 points and had 10 rebounds in the first half as the Hokies (5-1) took a 36-17 lead at halftime, then opened the second half with a 15-3 run to put the game away.

The Bears (0-5) pulled to 13-8 with about 14 minutes to play in the first half, but Collins hit a jumper and a pair of free throws and A.D. Vassallo made a 3-pointer to make it 20-8 with 10 minutes to play in the first half. Morgan State got no closer.

Virginia Tech shot 48 percent from the field, forced 16 turnovers and outrebounded the Bears 37-26.

Five Hokies scored in double figures. Zabian Dowdell had 13, Vassallo had 12 and Jamon Gordon had 11. Andrew Lee had 15 points to lead Morgan State.
