BOSTON (AP) - Craig Smith had 14 points and 13 rebounds before watching the last seven minutes as No. 11 Boston College coasted to a 70-51 victory over Shawnee State.

Jared Dudley scored 18 with nine rebounds, and Sean Marshall had 14 and eight for BC (2-0). Terrence Davison and Frank Hall each had 10 points, and Davison and Justin Brinkman had seven rebounds apiece for NAIA Division II Shawnee State (3-3).

The game was scheduled as the first round of the Las Vegas Holiday Invitational but played on Boston College's Chestnut Hill campus. A sparse crowd watched Shawnee State stay close for 10 minutes before the Eagles pulled away to remain unbeaten in their inaugural Atlantic Coast Conference season.

Shawnee State led 13-12 with 10:12 to go in the first half before BC took the lead for good on Dudley's 3-point play. The Eagles scored 22 of the last 31 points in the half to make it 34-22 at the break.

BC broke it open in the second, scoring 12 consecutive points to turn a 40-29 game into a blowout.

Smith, BC's first preseason first team All-America selection, was 6-for-9 from the floor; overall, the Eagles shot 41 percent in the game. BC scored just 22 points off 24 Bears turnovers in the game, 15 of the turnovers in the first half alone.

The game was played with the NCAA's experimental rules that moved the 3-point line another foot back and widened the lane. BC was 0-for-11 from beyond the arc after making 7-of-21 shots from 3-point range in Friday night's opening victory over Dartmouth.

Coach Al Skinner complained that the Eagles took too many outside shots in that one, a strategy that failed to take advantage of Smith's inside game.

Shawnee State was 3-for-9 from 3-point range. Davison, who made a pair of 3s, passed Kirk Ruggles and moved into fifth place on Shawnee State's all-time scoring list.
