King Leads Miami Men's Basketball Past Marist, 85-61

Anthony King led three Hurricanes in double-figure scoring as the University of Miami men's basketball team cruised past Marist, 85-61, in the first round of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Puerto Rico Tip-Off in the Coliseo de Puerto Rico on Thursday afternoon.

The fifth-year senior finished with a team-high 13 points, five rebounds and a game-high four blocks, while sophomore guard James Dews added 11 points - including three three-pointers - and five boards in his first career start. Junior guard Jack McClinton extended his double-figure scoring streak to 14 - the second-longest active streak in the ACC - with 11 points and a pair of assists, while freshman guard Eddie Rios dished out a career- and team season-high eight assists.

Hickson Scores 31 in Debut; Pack Wins 66-47

J.J. Hickson admits that it wasn't the perfect collegiate debut. But it was pretty close.

The forward/center from Marietta, Ga., made all 12 of his field goal attempts, scored a game-high 31 points and had seven rebounds to lead the No. 21 Wolfpack to a 66-47 victory over visiting William & Mary Thursday night at the RBC Center.

It's the most field goal attempts in a single game without a miss in school history, eclipsing Josh Powell's 10-for-10 performance against North Carolina A&T on Dec. 14, 2002, and the most consecutive field goals to start a career of any player in ACC history, topping the 11 in a row Duke's Cherokee Parks had at the beginning of his career.

Clemson Posts Road Win at Mississippi State 84-82

Freshman Terrence Oglesby scored 17 points and hit two key free throws Thursday night as Clemson beat Mississippi State.

Clemson (2-0) went to the foul line 38 times as the Tigers snapped Mississippi State's eight-game home winning streak.

The teams were tied 71-71 late before Clemson hit three free throws, including two by Oglesby, to gain separation from Mississippi State (1-1).

K.C. Rivers had 17 points for the Tigers, along with seven rebounds. James Mays scored 14 and Cliff Hammonds added 13.

Maryland Tops Northeastern in Overtime

James Gist scored a career-high 27 points, including two free throws that put Maryland ahead for good in overtime, and the Terrapins survived a scare from Northeastern in a 74-72 victory Thursday night.

Gist's foul shots put Maryland up 70-69 with 50 seconds left. After a Northeastern turnover, Eric Hayes made two free throws for the Terrapins, whose final six points came at the line.

Bambale Osby had 16 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks for Maryland (3-0). He was 14-for-20 at the line and 1-9 from the field.
