No. 13 Duke Rolls Past New Mexico State, 86-61

Jon Scheyer came off the bench to score a game-high 22 points to lead 13th-ranked Duke to an 86-61 win over visiting New Mexico State at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Monday night.

The Blue Devils improve to 2-0 while the Aggies fall to 0-2. With the victory, Duke extends its streak of consecutive home wins against non-conference opponents to a nation-best 53 games.

After trailing 6-4 early in the game, the Blue Devils used a 12-0 spurt to claim a 16-6 advantage when Taylor King canned a three-pointer at the 14:49 mark. An 11-2 run capped by a jumper from Kyle Singler pushed the Blue Devils ahead by a 27-10 count midway through the first half.

After leading 47-26 at intermission, the Blue Devils extended the lead to 31 points at 61-30 just over six minutes into the second frame.

Boston College Defeats Florida Atlantic, 68-62

Tyrese Rice scored 21 points, eight during a 21-5 second-half run as Boston College took the lead and beat Florida Atlantic 68-62 on Monday night.

Rice had nine assists and Shamari Spears, who was also suspended for playing in an unsanctioned offseason game, had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Eagles (2-0) in his season debut.

Carderro Nwoji scored 15 points, Paul Graham III had 14 and Carlos Monroe had eight rebounds for Florida Atlantic. The Owls (0-2) took a lead into the second half before BC scored 14 of 15 points, thanks in part to a technical foul against coach Rex Walters.

Seminoles Cruise to 92-67 Victory Over Georgia Southern

Isaiah Swann led four Seminoles in double figures with 25 points and Florida State cruised past Georgia Southern for a 92-67 win Monday night.

Swann's two consecutive 3-pointers late in the first half sparked a 14-2 run that broke open a tie game. He scored 18 before halftime.

The senior guard finished 7-for-11 from the field -- including 3-for-7 from the 3-point line -- and added seven rebounds.

Clemson Rolls Past Furman In Opener, 91-46

James Mays scored a game-high 17 points, grabbed six rebounds and had a career-high six steals as Clemson opened its season with a 91-46 win over Furman on Monday night.

The Tigers forced the Paladins (0-2) into 37 turnovers, had 25 steals and 12 blocks, and shot 54.2 percent from the field. Furman shot 34 percent.

Clemson scored the first 17 points of the game. Furman cut its deficit to 21-13 with under 12 minutes to go in the half, but the Tigers responded with a 16-2 run and led 41-21 at half.

Maryland Defeats Hampton, 70-64

Greivis Vasquez scored 10 of Maryland's final 11 points, James Gist had 16 points and 12 rebounds in his belated season debut, and the Terrapins defeated Hampton 70-64 Monday night to advance to the semifinal round of the CBE Classic.

The Terrapins (2-0) gave up a 14-point lead in the second half before rallying behind Vasquez, who finished with 21.

Vasquez, a sophomore guard, gave Maryland the lead for good by hitting a 3-pointer with 1:17 to go. Then, after Hampton's Jordan Brooks missed two foul shots, Vasquez sank two free throws with 33 seconds left for a 67-63 lead.

With Gist leading the way, Maryland finished with a 45-29 rebounding advantage.
