Pack Opens MBB Season With 69-53 Win
Junior Tracy Smith had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the NC State men's basketball team to a season-opening 69-53 victory over Georgia State Thursday night at the RBC Center.

Senior Dennis Horner scored 11 of his 15 points in the first half as the Wolfpack held a narrow 32-29 advantage at intermission.

The game remained close through much of the second half and was tied at 37 with a little over 13 minutes to play. But sophomore guard Julius Mays hit a pair of free throws to break the tie and the Wolfpack slowly built its lead to double figures.
