Miami Rolls Past Virginia Tech, 75-58

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) - No. 5 Miami went 11 minutes without a basket Wednesday night, then finally shook a 10-day scoring slump and pulled away from Virginia Tech for a 76-58 victory.

Shane Larkin had 22 points and six assists to lead the Hurricanes, who were coming off a loss at Wake Forest that ended their 14-game winning streak and their bid to go unbeaten in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Despite a slow start, Miami (23-4, 14-1) never trailed and improved to 13-0 at home. The Hurricanes hold a 2 1/2-game edge over second-place Duke in the ACC and can clinch their first conference basketball championship by beating the Blue Devils on Saturday.

Purvis Leads NC State Past Boston College, 82-64

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -Freshman Rodney Purvis scored a season-high 21 points to lead North Carolina State past Boston College 82-64 on Wednesday night.

Scott Wood added 17 points with five 3-pointers while Purvis scored six during the run of 10 straight points midway through the second half that helped the Wolfpack (20-8, 9-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) pull away.

Freshman T.J. Warren scored 13 points, Lorenzo Brown had 11 and C.J. Leslie finished with 10 in an encouraging bounce-back performance for N.C. State, which is a half-game behind fourth-place Virginia in the race for one of the four first-round byes in the ACC tournament.

Lonnie Jackson scored 16 points and Olivier Hanlan and Ryan Anderson each had 12 for Boston College (12-16, 4-11).

Georgia Tech Edges Maryland, 78-68

ATLANTA (AP) - Robert Carter Jr. had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Georgia Tech beat Maryland 78-68 on Wednesday night, extending the Terrapins' road struggles.

Carter, a freshman, posted his fourth double-double of the season and Brandon Reed had 17 points for Georgia Tech (15-12, 5-10 Atlantic Coast Conference). Daniel Miller had 16 points and nine rebounds while making each of his 12 free throws.

The loss left Maryland 1-6 in road ACC games. Maryland (19-9, 7-8) is 15-2 at home, but its latest road loss was a damaging blow to its NCAA tournament hopes.

Dez Wells led Maryland with 15 points. Alex Len had 13 points and nine rebounds. Seth Allen had 12 points.
