The Atlantic Coast Conference...home to 12 NCAA titles in basketball, 5 in the last 11 years. The premier college basketball conference in the nation has provided fans with some of the most memorable moments in the history of the game.
Raycom Sports is proud to present a new series dedicated to the continued excellence and tradition of ACC basketball with three half-hour shows called, ACC Basketball: Kings of the Court. Former University of Virginia star and 8-year NBA guard, Cory Alexander, will host the debut of "Kings" profiling some of the biggest names in college basketball
On our second show of the season, we head to Harrisonburg, Virginia to check in with one of college basketball's all-time greats...Ralph Sampson. We have an exclusive sit down with the Virginia superstar…and visit with family and friends to find out how he became a three-time national player of the year. Ralph talks about learning hard work and discipline working on the family farm and how he grew from being a clumsy kid into a dominant force in college basketball.
Ralph at 7'4" was one of the tallest players in ACC history. Our second feature profiles one of the shortest...5'3" Tyrone "Muggsy" Bogues. He grew up in the tough neighborhood of Lafayette Court in Baltimore but learned that basketball was a way to escape the trouble that was all around him. Muggsy had few believers that he could succeed in a sport of big men but he starred for Wake Forest and proved he was big enough to play for 14 years in the NBA. His story of perseverance and determination is an inspirational story.
Relive the days of some of the conference's legends. Kings of the Court goes beyond the game to tell each player's or coach's unique story, and how they made a name for themselves in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
