Virginia Tech’s Seth Greenberg begins his seventh season as the head basketball coach in Blacksburg ... named the ACC Coach of the Year twice (2005, 2008) in the school’s first five years in the league, Greenberg is 107-85 (.557) in his six seasons with the Hokies ... over the past three years, Tech is 26-22 in ACC regular season play and has averaged 20.7 wins per season ... earned ACC Coach of the Year honors in 2005 after leading the Hokies to a 16-14 overall record and an 8-8 league mark in their inaugural ACC campaign and the school’s first post-season appearance since 1996 ... came to Virginia Tech from the University of South Florida, where he served as head coach for seven seasons (1997-2003) ... posted a record of 108-100 at South Florida with two NIT appearances ... prior to South Florida, was the head coach at Long Beach State University, where his overall record was 105-70 with two NCAA appearances and one trip to the NIT ... in his 18 years as a head coach, he has compiled an overall record of 320-255 with nine post-season berths ... began his coaching career as an assistant at Columbia in 1978 before moving to two years later to Pittsburgh, where he made two trips to the NCAA Tournament in three years ... spent the 1983-84 season at Virginia, helping the Cavaliers reach the Final Four before moving on to Miami as an assistant under future Virginia Tech head coach Bill Foster ... a 1978 graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson, Greenberg was a four-year letter-winner.

Seth Greenberg begins his seventh season as the Hokie head coach and welcomes back five of his top seven scorers, including three starters, from last year’s team, which finished 19-15 overall and 7-9 in the ACC and made its third straight post-season appearance ... Tech was 3-1 in overtime games a year ago and was 8-8 in games decided by five points or fewer ... five Hokies have earned All-ACC honors over the past three years ... returning Hokie players have 209 career starts, the fourth-highest total among ACC teams ... Greenberg, the third-winningest coach in school history (107 in six seasons), looks to replace forward A.D. Vassallo ... Vassallo, a two-time All-ACC selection and the team’s leading scorer in each of the past two seasons, finished his career fifth among Hokie career scoring leaders (1,822) ... Malcolm Delaney, a third-team All-ACC selection as a sophomore in 2009, scored in double figures in 33 of Tech’s 34 games, including 12 games with 20 or more points and is the leading returning scorer (18.1) in the ACC ...

Delaney finished fifth in the ACC in assists (4.5), sixth in scoring (18.1), second in free-throw percentage (.869) and first in minutes played (36.9) and averaged 17.0 points and 9.3 assists in Tech’s four post-season games ... Jeff Allen scored at a 13.7 points-per-game clip, had nine games with 10 or more rebounds and was fourth in the ACC in rebounds (8.4) and steals (1.9) ... a two-year starter, Allen has career averages of 12.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game ... Dorenzo Hudson started 24 games last season, averaging 4.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in 20.6 minutes per game ... J.T. Thompson averaged 6.0 points, 3.7 rebounds after missing the first 10 games of his sophomore season with a hernia injury ... Thompson averaged 12.5 points and 5.3 rebounds in Tech’s four post-season games ... Victor Davila started 10 games in his rookie campaign, had seven games with six or more points and averaged 3.1 points and 2.0 rebounds in 11.9 minutes per game.
