The 11th head basketball coach in University of Miami history, Frank Haith enters his sixth season at the helm of the Hurricane basketball program ... in his first five seasons, Haith has led the Hurricanes to four post-season appearances and already has more post-season wins than any coach in Miami history ... opened the 2008-09 season ranked among the nation’s Top 25 in both pre-season polls for just the second time in program history ... playing the RPI’s sixth-toughest conference schedule while competing in the nation’s top-ranked conference, the Hurricanes finished 19-13 while appearing on network television a school-record 13 times ... in 2007-08, Miami won 23 games en route to the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2002 ... in his first five seasons at Miami, Haith has four post-season appearances, 13 wins over ranked opponents and three wins in the ACC Tournament ... in 16 seasons as an assistant at the Division I collegiate level, Haith worked with programs that won one NIT Championship, advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 three times, reached one Elite Eight in another and one Final Four in another ... prior to his arrival in Coral Gables, he spent three seasons at the University of Texas and was promoted to Associate Head Coach in April 2003 ... in his three seasons in Austin, Haith helped guide Texas to a 73-27 record, trips to the Sweet 16 in 2002 and 2004 and the Final Four in 2003 ... Haith also has experience coaching in the ACC, spending five seasons at Wake Forest (1997-2001).

The Hurricanes return two starters from a 2009 team that finished 19-13 overall and tied for seventh in the ACC with a 7-9 league mark ... five of Miami’s nine league losses were by five points or fewer ... the Hurricanes were 24th nationally in field-goal percentage defense (.396) and 30th in rebound margin (+5.2) ... the 5.2 rebound margin was their best since a +10.5 figure in 1969 ... Frank Haith is the first coach in school history to direct the Hurricanes to four post-season berths in his first five seasons; he stands fourth on the school’s all-time win list with 88 ... Haith will have to replace three of last year’s top five scorers, including two-time All-ACC guard Jack McClinton, who set the ACC’s career record for 3-point field-goal percentage (.440) and stands second in free-throw percentage (.900) and seventh on the school’s career scoring list with 1,702 points in three years ... heading up the returnees is senior forward Dwayne Collins, who averaged 10.6 points and a team-high 7.3 rebounds in 2009 ... Collins, a three-year starter with 71 career starts, has a .551 career field goal percentage and 43 games scoring in double figures ...

James Dews, a two-year starter with 118 career 3-point field goals, had 11 games with 10 or more points and was third on the team in scoring (8.2) last year after averaging 10.3 points per game as a sophomore in 2008 ... Adrian Thomas averaged 6.8 points per game in ACC play and made at least one 3-point field goal in 14 straight games, tying for the 10th longest streak in Miami history ... Cyrus McGowan averaged 4.6 points and 4.4 rebounds and led the team in rebounds four times ... DeQuan Jones played in all 32 games as a freshman, had six games with six or more points, including a career-high 11 points against North Carolina Central (J3) ... sophomore guard Malcolm Grant played in 29 games as a freshman at Villanova in 2007-08, when he shot .466 from 3-point range and averaged 5.6 points and 1.4 assists ... Julian Gamble averaged 2.4 points and 2.5 rebounds and had a double-double (13 points, 13 rebounds) versus North Florida.
