Named Clemson’s 21st head basketball coach on April 5, 2003, Oliver Purnell stands third in school history with 117 wins in six seasons ... a year ago, the Tigers finished 23-9 and made their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance ... Purnell has taken the Tigers to five consecutive post-season tournaments and Clemson has improved its winning percentage in each of the past five years ... in 2008, Clemson finished with a 23-9 record, four ACC road wins and a No. 24 final ranking in the Associated Press poll ... the 23 wins marked the third straight season with 20 or more wins, a first in school history; over that span only North Carolina and Duke have more wins than Clemson (72) among ACC schools ... in 2005, Purnell led the Tigers to a 16-16 record and their first post-season tournament appearance since 1999 ... has taken teams to 13 post-season tournaments and has 11 20-win seasons on his resume ... Purnell was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in 1998 ... named Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year at Old Dominion in 1993 and the Big South Conference Coach of the Year at Radford in 1991 ... in 2003, as the head coach at Dayton, he was named a finalist for the Naismith Award ... prior to taking the reins at Dayton, Purnell spent three years as head coach at Old Dominion, his alma mater, compiling 57 wins and three postseason appearances ... in his final two seasons at Old Dominion, his teams claimed the CAA regular-season championship, won 21 games and advanced to the NIT.

Booker has started each of the 102 games in his career, has a .576 career field-goal percentage and is the ACC’s career returning leader in rebounds (792) and blocked shots (204) ... two-year starter Demontez Stitt averaged 8.7 points per game as a sophomore (9.3 ppg in ACC games) and finished sixth among league leaders in assists (3.8) and assists-to-turnover ratio (1.49:1) ... Andre Young averaged 4.4 points and 2.1 assists as a freshman and fashioned a 2.87:1 assists-to-turnover ratio, the second best mark in school history ... Tanner Smith played in all 32 games as a freshman, averaging 3.6 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest ... Jerai Grant averaged 4.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and was second on the team and eighth in the ACC in blocked shots (45) coming off the bench last season as a sophomore.
