    Frank Haith
    Head Coach
    Frank Haith
The 11th head basketball coach in University of Miami history, Frank Haith enters his fifth season at the helm of the Hurricane basketball program. Haith has guided Miami to a 69-60 mark in his first four seasons. A year ago, the Hurricanes won 23 games en route to making the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2002. In his first four seasons in Miami, Haith has three post-season appearances, 11 wins over ranked opponents and three wins in the ACC Tournament. Haith is one of only two coaches in school history to take his first two teams into post-season play.

In 16 seasons as an assistant at the Division I collegiate level, Haith worked with programs that won one NIT Championship, advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 three times, reached one Elite Eight and one Final Four. Named the 2004 National Basketball Recruiter of the Year by Rivals.com, Haith recruited a total of six McDonald’s All-Americans. Prior to his arrival in Coral Gables, he spent three seasons at the University of Texas and was promoted to Associate Head Coach in April 2003. In his three seasons in Austin, Haith helped guide Texas to a 73-27 record, trips to the Sweet 16 in 2002 and 2004 and the Final Four in 2003.

Haith also has experience coaching in the ACC, spending four seasons at Wake Forest. He was instrumental in helping lead the Demon Deacons to four consecutive postseason tournament appearances, including an NCAA first round showing in 2000-01.

First-team All-ACC selection Jack McClinton heads a strong returning cast for a Miami team that posted a 23-11 record last season and earned an NCAA berth for the first time since 2002. The Hurricanes return four starters and seven of their top nine from last season. 'Canes center Anthony King is the only Miami starter who is not slated to be back this season. Miami has boasted a first-, second- or third-team All-ACC player each of its first four seasons in the league. The Hurricanes' Frank Haith owns a 69-60 record in his four seasons as head coach. Haith's arrival at Miami prior to the 2004-05 season coincided with the Hurricanes entry into the ACC. The Hurricanes won eight of their final 12 games in 2007-08.

Jack McClinton averaged 17.7 points per game last season and also led Miami in assists with 2.6 per game. McClinton led the ACC in free-throw shooting by knocking down nearly 92 percent of his foul shots and was second in the league in 3-point field-goal percentage (.427).

James Dews' solid sophomore season included starts in 33 of Miami's 34 games. The junior scored at a 10.3 ppg clip, and his 28.5 minutes ranked second on the team. Dews proved almost as efficient as McClinton when it came to free-throw shooting, making good on .907 of his attempts.
