NOTING THE ACC

  • With a 6-3 (.667) mark, the ACC is tied with the Big 12 as the winningest conference in the 2008 NCAA Tournament ... the Pac- 10 is third at 8-5 (.615).
  • The ACC has had at least one Final Four team in 17 of the last 21 years and in 22 of the last 28.
  • With a 329-163 (.669) mark, the ACC is the winningest conference in NCAA Tournament history.
  • With its 6-3 mark in this year’s NCAA Tournament, the ACC extended its non-losing streak in NCAA Tournament play to 21 years in a row. The Big East has the nation’s next longest current non-losing streak at 15 straight years.
  • Since 1981 four different ACC schools have won a total of eight NCAA titles, three more than any other conference.
  • Since 1981, six different ACC schools have made a total of 27 Final Four appearances, 10 more than any other conference.
  • Over the last eight years (since 2001), the ACC leads all conferences with seven Final Four teams.

  • Eleven of the 12 ACC teams have made at least one NCAA Tournament appearance since 2005.
  • Since the NCAA started assigning seeds with the 1979 Tournament, the ACC has won more games (23), and is the only conference with a winning record
