GREENSBORO, NC - Eight Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes have been named to the 10th annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Pro-Line Athletic Preseason All-America team, including four first-team selections.

The ACC `s first-team contingent includes Georgia Tech junior Deck McGuire, the 2009 ACC Pitcher of the Year; Florida State sophomore pitcher Sean Gilmartin and junior outfielder Tyler Holt, and Virginia junior outfielder Jarrett Parker.

McGuire posted an 11-2 record with a 3.50 ERA while helping lead the Yellow Jackets to an NCAA Tournament berth. The tall right-hander from Richmond, Va., struck out 118 batters in 100.1 innings while walking just 41.

Gilmartin went 12-3 with a 3.49 ERA while striking out 83 batters and walking 37 in 98 innings as the Seminoles finished first in the ACC Atlantic Division and advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAAs. Holt also played a key role in the Seminoles' success, batting .401 with five home runs and 28 RBI while stealing 34 bases in 39 attempts.

Parker played an integral role in Virginia's ACC Championship and first-ever march to the College World Series, batting .375 with 16 home runs, 60 RBIs and 19 stolen bases.

Second team selections include Virginia pitcher/first baseman Danny Hultzen, the 2009 ACC Freshman of the Year (.327, 3 homers, 37 RBIs; 9-1 on the mound with a 2.17 ERA, 107 strikeouts and 28 walks in 95.1 innings) and Georgia Tech senior first baseman Tony Plagman (.354, 16 home runs, 73 RBIs). The third team includes Florida State versatile junior Mike McGee (6-2 on the mound, 4.04 ERA; .379 at the plate with 19 homers and 78 RBIs) and North Carolina junior reliever Colin Bates (4-4, six saves. 3.15 ERA in 34 appearances).

The 2010 Division I baseball season gets under way Feb. 19, and ACC teams' first conference weekend series are scheduled March 12-14.
