![]() 2008 All-ACC Academic Baseball Team Announced

GREENSBORO, N.C. –ACC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year Buster Posey of Florida State leads the 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team as announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford. Posey, a junior Business Finance major, is a three-time ACC All-Academic team selection and the recipient of the 2008 Academic All-American of the Year, presented by CoSIDA in conjunction with ESPN the Magazine. Posey is a member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll, a five-time Dean’s List Student and was named to the Florida State President's List during the spring of his sophomore year. On the diamond, Posey led the nation in batting average (.463) and runs batted in (93). The Leesburg, Ga., native added 27 home runs to become just the fourth student-athlete in ACC history to win the conference’s triple crown. Posey made a sweep of national player of the year honors, including the Dick Howser Trophy, the Johnny Bench Award, the Brooks Wallace Award and the Golden Spikes Award. Posey was joined on the All-ACC Academic Baseball Team by five Florida State teammates. Duke matched the Seminoles with six student-athletes on the 42-member squad. Maryland placed five members on the team, and Clemson, Virginia and Wake Forest each placed four. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned at least a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained at least a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. Three-time honorees in addition to Posey include Virginia’s Andrew Carraway, NC State’s Joey Cutler, Maryland’s Chad Durakis, Wake Forest’s Allan Dykstra, Duke’s Nate Freiman, and Wake Forest’s Andy Goff. Other repeat honorees from the 2007 season include Virginia’s Neal Davis, Miami’s David DiNatale, Georgia Tech’s Brad Feltes, Wake Forest’s Ben Hunter, Clemson’s Alex Lee, Maryland’s Mike Murphy, Florida State’s Tommy Oravetz, Maryland’s Joe Palumbo, Virginia Tech’s Anthony Sosnoskie, and Duke’s Matt Williams.
