July 25th Pro Baseball Stat Tracker
July 25, 2000
COLLEGE PARK, Md.- Former Maryland pitcher Jamie Hammond is the latest Terp to play professional baseball. The 2000 team leader in wins for the Terps, Hammond has signed with the Solano Steelheads in the Western League, which is part of the Independant Leagues. Hammond has one memorable moment for his career already as he got former Major Leaguer Kevin Mitchell to line out in his only at bat versus Hammond. Eric Milton continues to have a breakout season for the Minnesota Twins. The former Terrapin won his ninth game of the season as he gave up four hits over eight shutout innings in a 4-2 Twins win over the Boston Red Sox Tuesday night. A prize prospect acquired from the Yankees in the Chuck Knoblauch trade, Milton has been on a roll since his 13-strikeout no-hitter versus the Anaheim Angels last September 11th. Garry Maddox, Jr., is on fire for the Trenton Thunder in the Boston Red Sox organization. Maddox is tenth in the Eastern League in batting with a sizzling .311 batting average. The former Terp Maddox is still in the top ten of two career hitting records at Maryland as he is third in triples and eighth in runs scored. Here is the complete list of former Terrapins that are active in professional baseball and their season statistics through July 25th.
