Junior Justin Maxwell and former Terp Steve Schmoll were recently named District Team members of the 2003 Verizon Academic All-America Baseball Team.

Schmoll, a former Terp turned pro from Rockville, Md., is a pitcher for the Ogden Raptors, a Pioneer League team of the Los Angeles Dodgers, whom he signed with in May. Schmoll is currently 1-1 with a 4.96 ERA and 30 strikeouts while limiting his opponents to a batting average of .177.

Maxwell, a native of Olney, Md., plays outfield for the Terps and is an animal science major. Always a force both on the field and in the classroom, Maxwell posted a 4.0 grade-point average in high school and chose to attend Maryland over Harvard.
