Former Florida State standout Marshall McDougall of the Midland Rockhounds (AA) was named the Texas League's MVP of the AA All-Star game while playing shortstop. The Eastern, Texas, and Southern leagues each have an MVP in the game that pits the American League against the National League affiliates. Behind a nine run seventh inning, including 2 hits (double and bunt single) from McDougall, the American League affiliates went on to an 11-2 victory.

At Florida State, Marshall is most remembered for his NCAA record six home run performance against Maryland on May 9, 1999. The Seminoles would go on to a 26-2 victory. He also tallied 16 RBI and 25 total bases in the outing, which are also NCAA single-game records. McDougall finished his career at FSU fourth all-time with a batting average of .383.

McDougall is currently hitting .305 with eight home runs, 17 doubles, four triples and 47 RBI for the Midland Rockhounds.
