Former Florida State standout Marshall McDougall of the Midland Rockhounds (AA) was named the Texas League's MVP of the AA All-Star game while playing shortstop. The Eastern, Texas, and Southern leagues each have an MVP in the game that pits the American League against the National League affiliates. The American League affiliates won the game 11-2 with a 9 run 7th inning including 2 hits (double and bunt single) from McDougall.

At Florida State, Marshall is most remembered for his NCAA record six home run performance against Maryland on May 9, 1999. The Seminoles would go on to a 26-2 victory. He also tallied 16 RBI and 25 total bases in the outing, which are also NCAA single-game records. McDougall finished his career at FSU fourth all-time with a batting average of .383.

McDougall is currently hitting .305 with eight home runs, 17 doubles, four triples and 47 RBI for the Midland Rockhounds.
