Former Maryland pitcher Eric Milton tops the list of former Terps currently active in professional baseball. Milton is enjoying the finest season of his career as he leads the Twins in victories and strikeouts. A prize prospect acquired from the Yankees in the Chuck Knoblauch trade, Milton has been on a roll since his 13-strikeout, no-hitter versus the Anaheim Angels last September 11th. This season Milton has continued to come into his own as the southpaw is on pace for 16 wins this season.
Garry Maddox Jr., the former Maryland outfielder and son of former major leaguer Garry Maddox, is in the midst of a stellar season for the Trenton Thunder. Maddox Jr. is batting over .300 for the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox in 2000. Maddox Jr. still is in the top ten of two career hitting records at Maryland as he is third in triples and eighth in runs scored. Kevin Haverbush, a 1999 Double-A all-star, is once again putting up solid numbers for the Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Altoona Curve. Haverbush collected 84 hits for the Terps in 1997 which places him second all-time for hits in a season. The following is the entire list of former Terrapins active in professional baseball and their statistics this season through July 11th. Check back each week for updated stats on each player.
