July 10, 2007 COLLEGE PARK, MD. - A trio of Maryland baseball players earned All-ACC Academic honors for the 2007 season, as announced on Monday by ACC Commissioner John D. Swofford. Seniors Charles Durakis, Joseph Palumbo and Michael Sufczynski, were all honored by the conference, after wrapping up their careers with the Terrapins. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. Durakis, a finance major, appeared in 52 games for the Terps and finished with a .295 average, 52 hits, 14 doubles, and 24 RBIs. It was the second consecutive All-ACC Academic selection for the senior catcher. Palumbo, who also majored in finance, started all but one game for the Terps, playing mostly in left field. He had 59 hits, 10 doubles, four homers and 35 RBIs for the year. Sufczynski, a key relief pitcher, had 22 appearances for the Terps. The accounting major had three saves on the season.
