CHICAGO, Ill.- Former Maryland pitcher Eric Milton has been selected to play in the 2001 Major League Baseball game at Safeco Field in Seattle. A Maryland baseball letterwinner from 1994-96, it is the first all-star appearance for Milton.
One of the top southpaws in baseball, Milton is enjoying his finest season of his young career. In 18 starts, Milton is 8-3 with a 3.73 ERA. The State College, Pa., native ranks second on the team in strikeouts (71) and innings pitched (118.1).
Milton is one of three Twins to be honored as all-stars joining fellow pitcher Joe Mays and shortstop Cristian Guzman. Catch all of the action of the mid-summer classic Tuesday, July 10 at 8 p.m. on Fox.
