Miami Baseball Finishes Fourth in National Polls
July 2, 2004 CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The University of Miami baseball team finished the 2004 college baseball season ranked fourth nationally by the Sports Weekly/ESPN Coaches poll. Head Coach Jim Morris' squad posted a 50-13 record and advanced to the College World Series for the ninth time in Morris' 11 years. The Hurricanes also finished the 2004 season ranked fourth in the Baseball America poll and fifth in Collegiate Baseball's rankings.
Cal Fullerton captured the national championship with a two-game sweep of Texas in the National Championship series. The Longhorns finished second and South Carolina earned the No. 3 ranking. Georgia came in just behind the Hurricanes at No. 5.
