Shane Robinson Picks Up His Fifth First Team All-American Honor
June 29, 2005
The sophomore outfielder has already been named a first team All-American by Louisville Slugger/TPX, USA Today/Sports Weekly, Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). Robinson joins J.D. Drew, Marshall McDougall, John-Ford Griffin and Eddie Martinez-Esteve as the only consensus first team All-Americans in FSU history. Robinson, J.D. Drew and Martinez-Esteve are the only sophomores on that list. Robinson is Collegiate Baseball's reigning National Player of the Year and has been a candidate for all four of the national player of the year honors this season. He was named SEBaseball.com's ACC Player of the Year, a first team All-ACC selection and a candidate for ACC Player of the Year honors. The sophomore outfielder enjoyed a school record 40-game hitting streak that garnered him national attention earlier this season and he was the first player in FSU history to record 100 hits and steal 40 bases in the same season. He was also the first player in the nation to reach the 100-hit plateau. The This marks the second consecutive season an FSU sophomore has been named a consensus first team All-American and the first time in program history that two Seminoles have ever been named consensus first team All-Americans in back-to-back seasons.
