ATLANTA - Georgia Tech freshman pitcher/designated hitter Micah Owings (Gainesville, Ga.) has been named to Baseball America's All-America team, while Owings and freshman shortstop Tyler Greene (Plantation, Fla.) were both named to the magazine's Freshman All-America team.

Owings, a utility player who starred as a pitcher as well as in the offensive lineup at first base, third base and designated hitter, was named a second team All-America and was the only freshman listed on the first, second or third teams. On the mound Owings won a team high nine games, posting a 9-3 record and a 3.99 ERA in 88 innings. At the plate, he hit .307 with a team best 15 home runs. Owings was also named to Baseball America's first-team Freshman All-America team.

Greene joined Owings on the first-team Freshman All-America squad after becoming Tech's everyday starter at shortstop as a rookie. He batted .316 with eight home runs and 43 RBI while starting 61 of the Yellow Jackets' 62 games in 2003.

Owings and Greene helped lead Georgia Tech to a 44-18 record and the Atlantic Coast Conference championship this spring. The Yellow Jackets advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the 18th time in the last 19 years.

The complete All-America and Freshman All-America teams can be viewed at Baseball America.
