June 15, 2000

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - University of Virginia baseball player Robbie Marvin (Ashburn, Va./Stony Brook) was named All-State Honorable Mention in the 2000 Division I All-State Baseball team chosen by the Virginia College Sports Information Directors (VaSID). The honor was Marvin's second post season recognition of the season after he was named Second Team All-ACC last month.

Marvin, a fourth-year second baseman, ended the season as Virginia's top hitter with a team-high .350 batting average. After starting all 51 games he appeared in, he finished third on the squad with 63 hits, including six doubles and one triple. Marvin scored 40 runs and tallied 24 RBI while leading the team in stolen bases (16-18). He was second on the team with 121 assists and finished fourth on the club with 136 putouts and recorded a .952 fielding percentage.

Marvin helped guide Virginia to an overall record of 26-31-1, 10-14 in the ACC. The Cavaliers advanced to the semi-finals of the ACC Tournament and finished with a 2-2 record before being eliminated by Clemson, the eventual tournament runner-up.

VCU's Jared Dubois and Old Dominion's Tim Hummel were named Co-Players of the Year, while Liberty's Dave Pators and ODU's Tony Guzzo were tabbed Co-Coaches of the Year.
