GAME 6 QUOTES * #2 NORTH CAROLINA 14, #6 NC STATE 5

NORTH CAROLINA HEAD COACH MIKE FOX
Overall thoughts on the game...
"We played very well tonight and Robert (Woodard) pitched very well. He had a bad taste in his mouth from the last time he pitched against NC State. But there isn't a kid that I would rather have ready to pitch at 10 o'clock at night, because no matter where or when, he is always ready. I thought this was one of our better efforts."

On the rain delay before the start of the game...
"That is part of this game and you just have to trust that your kids will come out ready to play. When they say `play ball' you have a choice of whether you are ready or not. And if you are not ready, then you won't ever be. I have to give our kids credit, they were ready tonight."

On advancing to play Virginia...
"It is a good feeling to be advancing to play Virginia and the fact that we have a day off is a great feeling. For it to be one o'clock in the morning, I usually don't feel this good. Virginia has a great team and I think it will be a great game."

On what you need to do to beat Virginia...
"We need to pitch well and play good defense, although that is the calling card for any team. Hopefully we will swing the bats like we did tonight. They are well coached and you have to play great defense or they will beat you."

NC STATE HEAD COACH ELLIOTT AVENT
Overall thoughts on the game...
"I don't know what happened tonight. We didn't play very well, but there is nothing you can do about that."

On having something to play for on Saturday...
"If you can't play for the ACC Championship, you're not going to be playing for that. I'm not sure if one game on Saturday is going to give you momentum going into a regional, especially as poorly as we played today, but we'll see what happens. We gotta play the game."
