GREENSBORO, N.C – A national-best four Atlantic Coast Conference schools have been named as host sites for the 2009 NCAA Baseball Regionals.

Clemson (40-19), Florida State (42-16), Georgia Tech (35-17-1) and North Carolina (42-16) will be among the 16 host schools as the 69th annual NCAA Baseball Tournament gets under way Friday at various campus sites. The four-team field for each regional will be completed Monday at 12:30 p.m., when the NCAA will announce the complete 64-team tournament field.

The ACC is assured of having at least five representatives in this year’s tournament. Virginia (43-12-1) earned the conference’s automatic berth by virtue of capturing the 2009 ACC Championship on Sunday.

Florida State is hosting for a record 28th time, while this will be 12th time that Clemson has hosted. Only FSU, Clemson, Arizona State (19) and LSU (19) have hosted 10 or more times since the NCAA went to the regional format in 1975.

Georgia Tech is hosting for the ninth time, while North Carolina will be serving as a host for the fifth year.

Each regional field features four teams, playing a double-elimination format. All 16 regionals are scheduled to be conducted from Friday, May 29, through Monday, June 1.

The remaining at-large teams, top-eight national seeds, first-round regional pairings and site assignments will be unveiled during Monday’s 12:30 p.m. announcement by the NCAA, which will be broadcast via a live half-hour program on ESPN.

The NCAA Baseball Committee will set the entire 64-team bracket through both the super regionals and the first round of the Men's College World Series, and will not reseed the field after play begins. Selection of the eight super regional hosts will be announced on www.ncaa.com, Monday, June 1 at approximately 11 p.m. (ET).

Thirty Division I conferences receive an automatic berth in the field of 64, along with 34 at-large selections.
