NORTH CAROLINA STATE HEAD COACH ELLIOTT AVENT

Overall thoughts on the game...
"Being back on the baseball field feels good after last night because last night was obviously hard for our whole ball club and we had to live with it for all night and most of the afternoon and all day today so it was a long, long afternoon and long day today and it was nice to get back out on the field and obviously when you have Clayton Shunick going that makes you feel pretty good but, we had great at bats tonight....and hopefully they can continue that through the rest of the season."

On Clayton Shunick pitching a complete game...
"I think it's huge anytime you can save your bullpen...we got our bullpen rested and have a couple of starters left and we'll just see but, the tournament is tough and it's a lot of tough teams in it and we also need a little help in it right now."

On Miami's offensive power...
I can't say they're the best hitting team in the country; obviously I haven't seen all the teams in the country but, they're the best hitting team we've seen by far...they're a great hitting ballclub, they're a good club defensively but we're looking forward to the challenge of playing them on Saturday.

On his team's confidence...
We've been playing with a lot of confidence the last two or three weeks, you build it through out the season, you go through some highs and some lows and we've been in both places.

CLEMSON HEAD COACH JACK LEGGETT

On NC State's success against Graham Stoneburner...
"He strikes out the first guy and I'm thinking, `Boy, he has a good fastball today,' and the next thing I know they've got six runs up on the board. We just didn't play very well in the first inning. We had some opportunities to shut that off quicker than six, but, the way that Shunick was pitching tonight, it was going to be tough to scratch any runs at all."

On rebounding for Saturday's game against Georgia Tech...
"We've just got to play. That's all there is to it. We got it handed to us tonight and we've got to put it behind us and we've got to be ready to play on Saturday.

"We've just got to come out and play. I'm just interested in us playing well against another good team in the conference. The pitching in this conference at the top end of the scale is phenomenal, maybe as good as I've seen in the league. And, then you throw in the offensive teams we've got in the league too, and it makes it very, very difficult. We're just not quite where we need to be right now. We got started behind the eight ball here, thought we were ready for a good ballgame. We knew it was going to be a close ball game in the beginning and tough to score runs, but, we didn't expect to give up that many early in the game."

CLEMSON'S WILSON BOYD (RS-So. - OF)

On how NC State hit the ball...
"You have to give them all the credit in the world. They came out early and swung the bats, and the guy on the mound did a phenomenal job and kept us off balance. We came out here ready to play. They just jumped out to an early lead and it was hard for us to rebound from that.

On playing after Miami won...
"It deflates us obviously, but, we are going out here trying to get another win for our regional bid and trying to put us in a better position to make the NCAA tournament. Every game we come out here, we play hard and sometimes nights are tougher than others."
