Boston College Baseball Takes Game One Of Doubleheader Against Virginia Tech

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.After dropping the championship game of the Beanpot earlier in the week, the Eagles looked to get back on the winning track and did so as they defeated Virginia Tech, 6-3 in game one of a doubleheader this aternoon at Shea Field.

Hokies snap losing streaks

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior Andrew Wells tossed a complete game as Virginia Tech split a double-header at Boston College on Saturday, ending a 14-game Atlantic Coast Conference losing streak in the process. Tech won the second game of the twin bill 6-1 after dropping a 6-3 decision in game one.

The win was the Hokies' first win against an ACC team since defeating No. 4 North Carolina 6-3 in Blacksburg on Mar. 24. The victory also snapped a seven-game losing streak against Boston College. Tech is now 19-25 on the season, including a 5-18 mark in the ACC. BC is 17-23-1 overall and 10-13 in the conference.

Wake Forest Walks Off with 4-3 Defeat of Duke in 10 Innings

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Dustin Hood drove in Brett Linnenkohl with a two-out, bases loaded single in the bottom of the 10th to give Wake Forest a 4-3 defeat of Duke Saturday afternoon at Hooks Stadium. The Demon Deacons had to rally in extra innings after the Blue Devils' Jimmy Gallagher hit a game-tying solo home run in the ninth.

After the Deacs went down in order in their half of the ninth, Linnenkohl got things started in the 10th with a one-out single up the middle. One out later, Allan Dykstra reached on a single to put runners at the corners.

North Carolina Evens Series With 9-3 Victory Over NC State

Raleigh, N.C. - No. 2 North Carolina scored six runs in the eighth inning to break open a tense pitcher's duel and earn a 9-3 victory, evening the series with No. 24 N.C. State Saturday at Doak Field. Tar Heel freshman pitcher Alex White struck out a career-high 11 batters and allowed just two earned runs in 6 2/3 innings. Rob Catapano (1-1) earned the win as North Carolina improved to 36-10, 15-8 in the ACC. N.C. State fell to 29-15, 12-11.

N.C. State junior Andrew Brackman held the Tar Heels to just three hits and two runs through seven innings, striking out seven and walking four. He was lifted after the seventh and the Tar Heels took advantage with three consecutive hits, including a single by Seth Williams, a run-scoring double by Dustin Ackley and an RBI-single by Tim Federowicz off Eryk McConnell (2-2).

D'Alessio Hits Two Homers in Tigers' 10-3 Win Over Georgia Tech Saturday

Andy D'Alessio went 4-for-4 with two solo homers in #17 Clemson's 10-3 win over #19 Georgia Tech Saturday in front of 5,011 fans at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. With the win, the Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the series and improved to 29-14 overall, 13-7 in the ACC. Georgia Tech fell to 26-17 overall and 13-9 in conference play.

Starter David Kopp (5-2) pitched 6.0 solid innings, giving up two runs (one earned), six hits, and one walk with four strikeouts to earn the win. Starter Eddie Burns (3-2) gave up six runs (four earned) with five strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched to take the loss.

Seabury Hit in 10th Leads Virginia Baseball to 3-2 Win

CHARLOTTESVILLE - Beau Seabury (Mount Vernon, Wash.) singled home Brandon Marsh (Alpharetta, Ga.) with the winning run in the 10th inning to propel the No. 3 Virginia baseball team to a 3-2 win over Maryland Saturday at Davenport Field.

Marsh led off the 10th with a single and moved up on a Sean Doolittle (Tabernacle, N.J.) sacrifice bunt. After an intentional walk to Brandon Guyer (Herndon, Va.), David Adams (Margate, Fla.) grounded out to move Marsh to third. Seabury then lined a Cecil offering down the left-field line, where diving third baseman Mike Murphy knocked the ball down but could not corral it, allowing Marsh to score the winning run.

Posey's Grand Night Carries Florida State to Victory Over Miami

Coral Gables, Fla. - Top ranked Florida State (39-6, 17-3) got a career night from sophomore catcher Buster Posey to push the Seminoles to their seventh consecutive ACC series win in as many opportunities with a 13-8 victory over Miami (26-19, 11-12) at Mark Light Field. Posey went 3-for-6 with a single, double and a home run including his first career grand slam. The Leesburg, Ga., native also registered a career-high seven RBI's as the Seminoles posted the most runs on the Hurricanes home turf since April 14, 2002 when the Garnet and Gold defeated Miami 17-11.

Jason Stidham joined Posey with three hits in game two, while Mark Hallberg and Brandon Reichert each registered two hits a piece. Jack Rye collected his seventh home run of the season in the top of the first as the Seminoles have now hit five home runs through the first two games of the series.

Brian Chambers (3-0) worked 3.2 innings of relief to earn his third victory of the season, while Matt Fairel pitched the final 3.1 innings to register his first collegiate save.
