Wake Rolls Past Duke, 13-6

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest snapped a four-game conference losing streak by pounding out 18 hits to roll past Duke 13-6 Friday afternoon at Hooks Stadium.

Every Demon Deacon starter had at least one hit, and four players had multi-RBI performances. It was Wake's third win in a row and second straight game scoring 13 runs after defeating Appalachian State 13-5 on Wednesday. The win pushed the Deacs' record to 25-22 overall and 9-13 in the ACC. Duke drops to 26-18 overall and 6-16 in conference play.

NC State Baseball Takes Out Fourth-Ranked North Carolina 11-1

RALEIGH, N.C. - Marcus Jones hit a grand-slam home run and drove in five runs, Pat Ferguson and Dallas Poulk both had a career-high four hits, and Eric Surkamp scattered eight hits in seven strong innings Friday as NC State defeated North Carolina 11-1 in the first game of a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference series at Doak Field at Dail Park.

NC State, ranked 24th, improved to 29-14 overall and 12-10 in the ACC with the victory. North Carolina, ranked No. 4, dropped to 35-10 overall and 14-8 in the conference. Surkamp (4-2) won for the first time since March 30 at Boston College. He allowed just one run on eight hits, walked two and struck out three and was in command throughout. The Tar Heels only got three runners into scoring position against Surkamp, and only one reached third base through the first six innings. He retired the leadoff hitter in all seven innings he worked. Robert Woodard (7-2), a Wolfpack nemesis the last three seasons, took the loss after allowing a career-high eight runs on a career-high 12 hits in just 4 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out four.

Hogan Walks Off a Hero in #17 Clemson's 3-2 Win Over #19 Georgia Tech in 11 Innings Friday

Doug Hogan's home run to left-center in the 11th inning gave #17 Clemson a 3-2 win over #19 Georgia Tech Friday night in front of 5,239 fans at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. After the Yellow Jackets scored two runs in the top of the 10th, Clemson tied the score in the bottom of the 10th after the first two batters of the inning were retired. The Tigers took the first game of the series and improved to 28-14 overall, 12-7 in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets dropped to 26-16 and 13-8 in conference play.

Junior reliever Alan Farina (3-1) pitched the 11th inning without allowing a hit and striking out two to earn the win. It was also the best outing of starter Daniel Moskos' career despite him not factoring in the decision. He threw struck out a career-high eight batters in a career-long 6.1 innings. He also allowed just five hits and no runs.

No. 3 Virginia Baseball Erupts for 14-0 Win over Maryland

CHARLOTTESVILLE - Behind a four-hit shutout from Jacob Thompson (Danville, Va.) and four hits each from Brandon Marsh (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Jeremy Farrell (Westlake, Ohio), the No. 3 Virginia baseball team rolled to a 14-0 win Friday night over Maryland in front of 2,197 at Davenport Field.

Thompson (10-0) dominated throughout, allowing just four batters to reach base, but none got past first base. He also struck out six. He has not allowed an earned run at home in 27 2/3 innings, dating back to March 23 against Miami. It also marked his second shutout of the season and the third of his career.

FSU Rallies Passed Miami With Four-Run Ninth For 7-6 Victory

Coral Gables, Fla. - Top ranked Florida State (38-6, 16-3) entered tonight's contest without a come-from-behind victory in 2007 when trailing after eight innings. After Friday night, they now have one. The Seminoles scored four runs in the top of the ninth for a 7-6 victory over the Miami Hurricanes (26-18, 11-11) in game one of a three game set at Mark Light Field. Tony Thomas Jr. and Mark Hallberg hit back-to-back home runs in the ninth to cap a three-run Seminole deficit. Bryan Henry threw eight innings to earn his 11th victory of the season and Danny Rosen shut the door on the Hurricanes in their final at-bat for his eighth save.

The Seminoles were playing catch-up all evening long down by as many as four runs on Friday night. But the number one team in the nation kept chipping away at the Hurricane lead before finally taking its first lead of the game with one swing of the bat. Hallberg got his first hit of the contest smashing a 2-1 fastball from Dennis Raben (1-2) over the wall in right center which proved to be the game-winner. The hit also extended the junior shortstop's hitting streak to a career-best 10 straight games.
