![]() Florida State's Brandon Reichert and Virginia's Jacob Thompson Garner Weekly ACC Baseball Honors
April 9, 2007 GREENSBORO, N.C. - For the second week in a row, a Florida State player has been selected Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week as Brandon Reichert earns his first honor this season. Virginia's Jacob Thompson collects Pitcher of the Week accolades, becoming the second Cavalier this year to garner league recognition. A senior from Tallahasee, Fla., Reichert guided the top-ranked Seminoles to a series win on the road at NC State. He registered multiple hits in all three games against the Wolfpack, posting multiple RBI in games one and three. The first baseman posted a career-high four RBI and notched his first home run of the season in game one last Friday. In game two, Reichert was one of three Seminole hitters to register multiple hits as he recorded a double in the fourth and a single in the eighth. Reichert capped a Seminole come-from-behind victory in game three. Reichert was also perfect from the field in all three games, converting on all 38 chances at first base and reaching double-digit putouts.
Florida State and Virginia will both hit the field Tuesday, April 10, for a single game before returning to league action this weekend. The FSU Seminoles remain at home, hosting Jacksonville tomorrow and Virginia Tech this weekend, while UVa travels to VCU first and then heads home to play Georgia Tech.
