JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Florida State catcher Buster Posey drove in four runs and Michael Hyde turned in a strong six-inning pitching performance as the top-seeded Seminoles beat Wake Forest 11-2 in the final game on the first day of the round-robin format of the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Tournament.

Hyde, the Seminoles No. 2 pitcher in the team rotation, scattered four hits and four walks and allowed two runs. Hyde (10-2) walked the bases loaded in the first inning but permitted just one run to score on a ground out. He permitted a hit in four of the next five innings, but the Demon Deacons could score just one other run.

The Seminoles' bats came alive in the fourth inning when they sent 10 men to bat with six players recording a hit and a seventh batter reaching base on a walk. Four different players were credited with an RBI in the inning.

After scoring single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, Florida State (47-9, 24-6) secured the win with four runs in the eighth inning. Posey delivered the big hit with a bases-loaded triple.

Mark Hallberg had three hits to lead the Noles' 14-hit attack. Tony Thomas, Jason Stidham and Posey all contributed two hits each.

Wake Forest (31-26, 14-16) was led by shortstop Dustin Wood with two hits. Starter Garrett Bullock (4-2) went 5 2/3 innings and allowed 10 hits and seven runs.

Both teams are idle on Thursday with Florida State meeting Miami and Wake Forest taking on Clemson in Friday's games.
