White, No. 2 Carolina Shut Down Kent State, 8-1

Sophomore right-hander Alex White went six strong innings, and second baseman Kyle Seager drove in a career-best three runs for the second straight day in No. 2 North Carolina's 8-1 win over Kent State Friday at the Coca-Cola Classic at The Winthrop Ballpark. The Tar Heels (5-1) scored seven runs over the first two innings and have outscored the opposition, 14-2, over the last two days.

Maryland Baseball Pounds Hofstra, 16-5

Senior Steve Braun (Granada Hills, Calif./Pierce CC) and junior Gerry Spessard (Hagerstown, Md./Smithsburg) drove in four runs apiece and sophomore AJ Casario (Pine Hill, N.J./Overbrook) drove in another three as the Maryland baseball team blew out the visiting Hofstra Pride, 11-6, Friday afternoon at Shipley Field.

Wymer tosses Hokies to 11-3 win over CCSU in home opener

Seven innings of two-hit ball by starter Josh Wymer and a four-hit, four-RBI performance from Jose Cueto lifted the Virginia Tech baseball team to an 11-3 win in its home opener on Friday in the Hawthorn Suites Invitational at English Field.

Wake Forest Pounds Kennesaw State in Screentech Opener, 16-0

Wake Forest (2-3) used a seven-run second inning and a five-run eighth to dispose of Kennesaw State (4-4), 16-0, in the first game of the Screentech Wiregrass Classic in Dothan, Ala. Ben Terry started the Deacon scoring barrage in the second with a one out, bases loaded single that scored Andy Goff and Evan Ocheltree.

FSU Holds On For 6-5 Victory Over Auburn

Florida State (5-0) scored early and held on late to take both games on the road of a home and home series against Auburn (4-2) with a 6-5 victory Friday afternoon at Plainsman Park. Sophomore Matt Fairel pitched a career-high seven innings to pick up his second win of the season while Jimmy Marshall got the final three outs in the ninth to register his first career save.

Thompson Sets UVa Wins Record in Victory over Siena

Jacob Thompson (Jr., Danville, Va.) set the Virginia career wins record Friday as the 16th-ranked Cavaliers topped Siena, 17-2, at Davenport Field. Thompson earned his 23rd career victory, besting former Cavaliers Sean Doolittle (2005-07), Joe Koshansky (2001-04) and Seth Greisinger (1994-96). The win pushed Virginia to 7-0 on the young season, the program's best start in a season since the 1971 squad opened 7-0.

#13 Tigers Rally Past College of Charleston 7-6 Friday

Behind three home runs and J.D. Burgess' double that scored two runs in the eighth inning, #13 Clemson rallied for a 7-6 victory over College of Charleston in front of 2,083 fans at Patriots Point Stadium on Friday. The Tigers improved to 5-0, while the Cougars fell to 4-1. Clemson also upped its all-time record to 19-0 against College of Charleston.

Boston College Baseball Defeats Mount St. Mary's, 7-3

Senior Terry Doyle pitched a complete game eight hitter to help the Boston College baseball team defeat Mount St. Mary's, 7-3, Friday evening at the Santaluces Sports Complex. Doyle set a career-high with 13 strikeouts to earn his first win of the season. The right-hander's previous high was 12 punch outs which he totaled last year against Wake Forest. The complete game marks the third of Doyle's career.

Erickson, No. 9 Hurricanes Knock Off Gators, 8-4

Sophomore lefty Eric Erickson struck out nine in 6 2/3 innings and junior centerfielder Blake Tekotte and sophomore catcher Jason Hagerty combined for six hits as No. 9 Miami knocked off its in-state rival Florida, 8-4, Friday night in front of a sellout crowd of 3,000 at Mark Light Field. Junior second baseman Jemile Weeks homered for the second time this season as the Hurricanes (4-0) remained perfect on the season.

NC State Baseball Falls To No. 22 Louisville, 3-1

It was the Justin McClanahan show for Louisville on Friday. McClanahan homered, doubled and drove in three runs to lead the Cardinals past NC State 3-1 at the Charleston Firefighter Memorial Challenge at Riley Park in Charleston, S.C.

No. 22 Tech Baseball Falls to Rutgers, 10-6, in 11 Innings

Jaren Matthews went 3-for-5 and scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th inning to lead Rutgers (1-2) to a 10-6, 11-inning win over No. 22 Georgia Tech (5-1) Friday night at Russ Chandler Stadium.
