![]() NC State Places 10 on All-ACC Cross Country Teams
Nov. 9, 1999 GREENSBORO, N.C. - The NC State men's and women's cross country teams placed eight athletes on the All-Atlantic Coast Conference teams following the ACC Championships on November 1st. North Carolina freshman David Stroupe and Duke rookie Sheela Agrawal were named ACC Freshmen of the Year after being the first true freshmen to finish in the ACC Championships.
The Wolfpack men were led by ACC Individual Champion Chan Pons, as he joined six other NC State runners, the most any one team has put on the All-Conference list since State had six in 1997. The other six NC State performers were Corby Pons, Abdul Alzindani, Chris Duganj, Aaron Saft, Chris Bowker and Michael Fitzula. These runners were joined on the team by Virginia's Bob Thiele, Duke's Terry Brennan and Clemson's Jason Meany. North Carolina's David Stroupe finished 19th to capture ACC Freshman of the Year honors.
On the women's side NC State's Christy Nichols, the ACC Individual Champion, was one of three Wolfpack runners on the All-Conference list. She was joined by fellow Wolfpack runners Katie Sabino and Amy Beykirch. Atlantic Coast Conference Team Champion North Carolina also had three runners on the All-ACC team, including Trish Nervo and Heather Tanner, who finished second and third in the individual event, and Karen Everitt, who finished tenth. They were joined on the team by Duke's Sheela Agrawal, the ACC Freshman of the Year and fellow Blue Devil Megan Sullivan.
