Florida State's Karen Harvey and Virginia's Jason Vigilante Earn ACC Cross Country Coach of the Year Honors
Nov. 6, 2008 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Florida State's Karen Harvey was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year after leading the Seminoles to their second ACC title in as many years. Virginia's Jason Vigilante, who directed the Cavaliers to their second-straight ACC cross country title and third in four years, was selected the ACC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year. In earning the award for the second straight year, Harvey directed the Seminoles to the 2008 ACC women's cross country title as they totaled 27 points and out-distanced runner-up Boston College by an ACC-record 79 point margin. All five Florida State runners placed in the top 10, including Susan Kuijken, the league's individual champion for the second year in a row. The Seminoles are currently ranked third in this week's USTFCCA poll.
On the men's side, Vigilante led Virginia to its' second-straight ACC men's cross country title, and third in four years, out-distancing second-place NC State by 16 points. The Cavaliers placed four runners in the top 10, including senior Ryan Foster, the school's first-ever men's individual champion. Virginia is currently ranked 13th in this week's USTFCCA poll.
