![]() Beyond the ACCtion: 2008 ACC Cross Country Championship
Nov. 1, 2008
The 2008 ACC Cross Country Championships got off to a chilly start, with frost on the ground when the teams arrived. By 9 a.m., the air was warming (in the sun), and so were the expectations for a pair of great races. The course went around a large open field before venturing into the woods. The runners were in the woods for the majority of the race, before coming back into the field before the race to the finish line. Most fans watched the start, then sprinted across the short side of the field to cheer on the runners as they entered the woods. There were other spectator viewing areas in the woods, but most fans stayed on the field and listened to periodic updates from the public address announcer. When the Gator pace vehicle rolled back into the field, everyone in the crowd was ready for the excitement. There were three runners in the lead pack in the women's raceand about a dozen within striking distance in the men's race. All of the action was captured by the ACC Video Services crew, with a recap of the day's action available on Monday, November 3 on ACC Select. The highlight package will feature both races as well as the awards ceremony and will be free of charge.
