Virginia's Jason Dunn and Florida State's Karen Harvey earn ACC Cross Country Coach of the Year Honors
Nov. 1, 2007 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia cross country coach Jason Dunn was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year after leading the Cavaliers to their second ACC title in three years and third overall. Florida State's Karen Harvey, who directed the Seminoles to the school's first-ever ACC cross country title, was selected the ACC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year. In earning the award for the second time in three years, Dunn directed the Cavaliers to the 2007 ACC men's cross country title as they totaled 32 points to edge out runner-up NC State by seven points. Four Virginia runners placed in the Top 6, including Emil Heineking who earned ACC Freshman of the Year honors after finishing fourth overall and first among all ACC freshmen. The Cavaliers are currently ranked ninth in this week's USTFCCA poll, marking their first Top 10 ranking under Dunn and the highest in over 20 years. On the women's side, Harvey led Florida State to its' first-ever ACC women's cross country championship, out-distancing second-place NC State by 38 points. The Seminoles placed five runners, including junior Susan Kuijken, the school's first women's individual champion, in the Top 25 and their 64 points were 58 points better than their previous best of 118 set a year ago. Florida State is currently ranked third in this week's USTFCCA poll - the program's highest ranking in school history. -ACC-
