GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State’s Ryan Hill was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week, and Florida State’s Susan Kuijken earned the league’s Women's Performer of the Week honors.
In earning the award for the second time this season, Hill finished ninth individually in the NCAA Pre-National Men’s Blue Race in Terre Haute, Ind., approximately 22 seconds behind the leader. In leading the Wolfpack to a ninth place finish in the 34-team Blue Race, the Hickory, N.C., sophomore, ran the 8K course in 24:02 and was the fastest of any ACC competitor in either of the two men’s races at the Pre-Nationals.
Led by Kuijken, the Seminoles turned in a second-place overall finish overall in the 37-team Blue Race with 135 points at the NCAA Pre-Nationals held in Terre Haute, Ind. In her first action of the 2009 season, the Nijmegen, Netherlands, native ran the 6K course in 20:20.8 to finish in second overall in a field of 249 runners.
