Cavalier Harriers Break Into National Poll
Oct. 17, 2000 The Virginia women's cross country team moved back into the national rankings after a five-year absence, coming in 25th in the latest FinishLynx national cross country rankings, released today. Virginia is ranked 25th, its first appearance in the polls since the Hoos were ranked 25th at the conclusion of the 1995 season. Brigham Young, the winners of the Pre-national meet held at Ames, Iowa, on Saturday, Oct. 14, are atop the poll. Virginia finished 17th in that meet. The Cavaliers are one of three ACC teams ranked in the poll, with N. C. State in the 13th slot and Wake Forest just ahead of the Hoos at 23rd. The Cavaliers will compete at the ACC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28 in Raleigh.
