Boston College's Ritchie, Florida State's Gunn and Virginia Tech's Fanning earn ACC Cross Country honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Boston College's Tim Ritchie and Florida State's Luke Gunn were tabbed as co-Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Performers of the Week and Virginia Tech's Tasmin Fanning was selected as the ACC Women's Performer of the Week.

Ritchie, a senior from Worester, Mass, garnered the men's weekly honor after finishing seventh at the Iona Meet of Champions in New York, N.Y. In a 26-team meet that included fourth-ranked Iona, eighth-ranked Michigan and No. 18 Providence, Ritchie covered the 8k course in 24:58.2 - the fifth-best time in the ACC this year.

Gunn captured individual honors at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational with a 7.6k time of 24:06.6. In earning his first victory at the collegiate level, the Derby, England, senior set a new Virginia Tech cross country course record, eclipsing the old record by over 20 seconds.

Fanning earned the women's weekly award after capturing individual honors at the Virginia Tech Alumni Challenge this past weekend in Blacksburg, Va. The Charlottesville, Va., senior took first place in the women's 4.6k race with a time of 15:55.3, defeating the second-place finisher by nearly 29 and leading the Hokies to a second place finish as a team with 37 points.
