GREENSBORO, N.C. - Boston College's Patrick Mellea and North Carolina's Megan Kaltenbach have been named Atlantic Coast Conference Cross Country Performers of the Week following outstanding individual performances this past weekend.

In his first competition of the season, Mellea captured individual honors in this weekend's Boston College Invitational. The North Arlington, N.J., senior finished the 8K course in 24:23, edging Providence's Tom Webb by one second in a come from behind performance. Mellea's time of 24:23 is the ACC's best 8K time of the 2007 season.

With her first place finish, Kaltenbach led five teammates in the top 10 as the Tar Heels captured this past weekend's Mountaineer Open team title. An All-ACC selection a year ago, the Aurora, Colo., senior finished the 5K race with a time of 17:59.55 - 30 seconds better than the nearest competitor.
