Chestnut Hill, Mass.-- The defending NCAA Northeast Regional Champion Eagles were ranked second only to Providence in the NCAA regional rankings, announced Monday, Sept. 10.

The rankings, announced after BC out-ran Providence College and New Hampshire on Sept. 1, rank Providence, BC, Columbia, Cornell and Yale as the region's top-five teams.

The Eagles will run against four teams ranked in the top-15, including Providence, No. 14 Stony Brook, No. 13 New Hampshire and No. 8 Iona.

The women ended the 2006 campaign ranked first in the Northeast region and were coached under the 2006 Northeast Regional Women's Coach of the Year, Randy Thomas. Thomas is in his 15th year as the director of both the cross country and track and field programs.

The cross country season continues with the Boston Invitational on Sept. 14, 2007. The meet begins at 4:00 p.m. at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
