CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The men's and women's cross country teams will open their 1999 seasons with their only home meet of the season on Saturday. The Cavaliers will host the Lou Onesty Invitational at Darden Towe Park on Sept. 11 with the women's race starting at 9:30 and the men beginning the race at 10:00.

Last year, the men finished third behind Bobby Thiele (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville)'s second-place finish in the 8K run. The women were the 1998 runners-up as Ellen Dwyer (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) finished ninth and Frances Warner (Fort Drum, N.Y./Carthage Central) finished 12th.

Both teams advanced to the NCAA Region III Championships last year in November. Thiele's finish at that race qualified him for the NCAA meet, in which he placed 62nd in the 10K run.
