![]() Wake Forest Places Five on 50th Anniversary Women's Cross Country Team
July 31, 2002 Greensboro, NC - The Atlantic Coast Conference 50th Anniversary Womenˇ¦s Cross Country Team was announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. The 50-member team was voted on by the nine league institutions as decided by the leagueˇ¦s 50th Anniversary Committee. NC State led all league schools with 17 members on the Golden Anniversary team while Virginia was second with 10 honorees. Clemson had seven players selected, followed by North Carolina (6), Wake Forest (5), Duke and Georgia Tech with two each and Maryland with one. Those earning the honor from Wake Forest include Seana Arnold (1986-1989), Karen Dunn (1983-1986), Janelle Kraus (1996-1999), Jennifer Rioux (1984-1987) and Nicole Stevenson (1992-1995). Arnold earned All-American honors in cross country and was the 1989 ACC cross country champion. She also won the ACC Championship in the indoor 3,000m. A two-time All-ACC selection in cross country, Dunn earned All-American honors in 1985. She also received All-American status in the outdoor 3,000m and was the 1986 Marge Crisp Female Athlete of the Year winner. Kraus, a three-time All-American in cross country and a two-time ACC Champion, was a three-time Marge Crisp Female Athlete of the Year winner. She also earned All-American honors in both the indoor and outdoor 5,000m in track and won seven ACC Championships in track. Currently, Kraus is a volunteer assistant coach for the Demon Deacons. As a three-time All-ACC selection in cross country, Rioux earned All-American honors in 1987. She also won ACC Championships in the indoor 3,000m and the outdoor 10,000m. Stevenson, a four-time All-AC selection in cross country, received All-American honors in 1993. She also won ACC Championships in the indoor 3,000m and the outdoor 5,000m.
